Seminar on Ancient Topography and Landscape Archaeology
The Seminars on Ancient Topography and Landscape Archaeology series continues with a new session organized and curated by Rodolfo Brancato and Vittorio Saldutti.
The meeting will host Anca Dan, who will hold a seminar titled “Geoarchaeology of the Hebros and Black Sea”.
The talk will offer a detailed overview of the results from the most recent interdisciplinary investigations conducted in the Hebros River delta area and along the Black Sea coasts. Professor Dan will illustrate the complex reconstruction of paleoenvironments in these strategic regions, which serve as pivotal zones between the Mediterranean and Eurasia. During the seminar, attention will focus particularly on the geomorphological evolution of the delta system and the silting dynamics that affected ancient ports—with a specific deep dive into the case study of Ainos—followed by an analysis of historical sea-level variations that helped reshape the geography of the Black Sea.
