Seminars on ancient topography and landscape archaeology

The cycle of Seminars on ancient topography and landscape archaeology for the 2025-26 academic year continues, with a new event organized by Rodolfo Brancato.

The meeting will host Beatrice Fochetti, from Università degli Studi di Firenze, who will hold a seminar entitled “Topografia del sacro in Etruria meridionale: Falerii Novi e il tempio repubblicano del foro“.

The talk, scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, is dedicated to the site of Falerii Novi (Lazio), a Roman city in the middle Tiber valley, in southern Etruria. The results of recent research conducted in the central area of the site will be presented, where, through a multidisciplinary approach, a monumental temple connected to the forum was investigated, to be related to the early urban development of the city, traditionally considered to be from the mid-Republican era. The talk will also propose a synthesis of the historical and territorial context of Falerii Novi between the Republican and Imperial ages.
