Final Conference
Investigating Resilient Roman Agricultural Landscapes in Southern Italy
An integrated and open digital approach to the archaeological topography of Roman centuriation
The final conference of the PRIN 2022 IN.RES.AGRI project will take place on 20–21 November 2025 at the Department of Humanities, University of Naples Federico II (Aula Ex Cataloghi Lignei, Via Porta di Massa 1).
The event, curated by Rodolfo Brancato, Veronica Ferrari, and Irene Rossi, brings together scholars and researchers from universities, heritage authorities, and research institutes at national and international level. The conference aims to present the project’s results and foster discussion on new approaches to the study of Roman agricultural landscapes, ancient land division systems, and long-term landscape resilience [project code: 2022SMJCHX].
The project focuses on the analysis of centuriated landscapes in Southern Italy through innovative digital methodologies and the integration of archaeological, topographic, and geoarchaeological data.
The programme includes four thematic sessions, contributions on aerial photo-interpretation, archaeological prospection, machine learning applications, open digital archives, as well as geoarchaeological studies. A final roundtable will provide an opportunity for broader discussion on future research perspectives.
